We build and extend engineering teams for product companies.
Profield works with startups and mid-size companies that need senior engineering talent without the overhead of full-time hiring.
Three ways to add engineering capacity.
Software Development
We design and build web products from scratch. From early architecture decisions to production deployment.
Learn more →Team Extension
We place senior engineers directly into your team. They work in your tools, attend your standups, and ship alongside your people.
Learn more →Technical Consulting
Architecture reviews, system design, and code audits. Useful when you need an outside perspective before making a big technical decision.
Learn more →Teams that already know where they're going.
Our clients are usually startups scaling their product or mid-size companies that need to move faster than their internal team allows. We work best with teams that already have product direction and need engineers who can execute without hand-holding.
Startups
Move from prototype to production without hiring a full team. Launch an MVP, validate the idea, then scale what works.
- Prototype and validate
- Ship the first MVP
- Build the founding stack
Product companies
Add senior capacity in weeks, not quarters. Ship the roadmap faster without slowing down your existing team.
- Scale up delivery
- Ship new product lines
- Lift security & compliance
Scale-ups
Replace contractor churn with a stable extended team. Keep institutional knowledge while you keep growing.
- Stabilise delivery
- Modernise legacy code
- Build platform foundations
From first call to first commit.
A short, deliberate process. No discovery contracts, no months-long sales cycle.
Scope
A 30-minute call. We understand what you're shipping, the stack, and the gaps. No discovery fees.
Shortlist
Within 5 business days we send 2–3 engineer profiles matched to the work. You interview only people we'd hire ourselves.
Onboard
Day one in your tools, your standups, your repo. We handle contracts, devices, and time-zone overlap.
Ship
Weekly delivery check-ins, monthly review of fit. Scale the team up or down with 30 days' notice.
A practical stack, not a buzzword cloud.
We hire engineers for depth in a few stacks rather than a checkbox of every framework. If we say we know it, we ship in it.
Boring is a feature.
Four principles that decide who we hire, what we take on, and how we run engagements.
Senior engineers only
Every engineer in our network has shipped production systems for at least five years. No juniors hidden behind a senior interviewer.
Transparent delivery
You see the same standups, the same tickets, the same code your internal team sees. No black-box reports, no status theatre.
Pragmatic scope
We push back on work that doesn't need to be built. Cutting the right scope ships faster than adding more people.
Stable people
Engineers stay on engagements for the duration. We don't rotate people off to chase the next contract.
Questions teams ask before getting started.
How is this different from a typical agency?+
Agencies sell projects and rotate teams. We embed senior engineers directly into your team and stay until the work is done. You manage the work; we keep the people in good shape.
How fast can an engineer start?+
From first call to first commit usually takes one to two weeks. Faster if you already have a defined role; longer if the stack is unusual.
Can we hire your engineers full-time later?+
Yes. After 12 months of engagement there's a clear conversion path. We'd rather see a great fit become permanent than artificially block it.
What time zones do you cover?+
We work primarily across European and Americas hours. We commit to a minimum of four hours of overlap with your core team.
Do you take on fixed-scope projects?+
Sometimes. If the scope is genuinely fixed and well-understood, we'll quote it. Most product work isn't, and we'll be honest about that up front.
Need engineers who can hit the ground running?
Tell us what you're shipping. We'll reply within one business day with a plan and a shortlist of engineers who fit.
